Whether you are looking for a present for Uncle Joe or Tim and Jenny’s baby that was just born, the chances are great that you can find whatever you’re looking for while shopping in downtown Gatlinburg, TN.
There’s a little something for everyone’s taste, as well as budget. One of the most visited shops in the area is Smoky Mountain Outfitters. Of course, being located close to the Smokies makes this place a great place to shop for hiking some of those gorgeous mountain sides in East Tennessee and nearby North Carolina. The guides at the store are very knowledgeable about the area and can answer any questions that you might have.
On a personal level, some of my favorite shops along the Parkway are some of the more traditional favorites that have been there for years. One such place is Aunt Mahalia’s Candies, which is celebrating 70 years of business this year. In addition to the staples like fudge and chocolate, they also offer such delectable goodies as Fluffy Divinity and Pecan Puffs. They ship throughout the continental United States, but unless you’ve been in the store to smell the aroma yourself, you are truly missing out.
One of the most unique shops around is The Lollipop Guild. Here, your children can have a personalized CD, book, or cartoon featuring the ever-popular Dora The Explorer. You can definitely find a gift for young tot that will leave quite the lasting impact here.
Probably the biggest attraction for local shoppers is the Mountain Mall. With every detail of the mall having a mountain theme, there’s quite a bit for the shopper to explore. Owned and operated by the Ogle family, long one of Sevier County’s most well known, the Mountain Mall offers many shopping bargains, ranging from Rhythm Section, which is the local CD / Record store, as well as the East Tennessee staple Book Warehouse, where you will find a wide variety of volumes ranging from Tennessee football to country stars such as local legend Dolly Parton.
Feel like you want to go back in time? Then, you might want to take a stroll into OldTyme Portraits, which offers customers a chance to get dressed in vintage outfits from a bygone era. They even have the family pets covered, as the Paws and Claws Pet Fashion outlet is one of the more popular shops in the mall.
Frankly folks, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are stores along the Parkway that offer just about anything you could ever expect to find—for just about anyone!
Throughout the year, thousands and thousands of people do their shopping within the borders of Gatlinburg. The reason why? You’ll find anything for anybody…try it yourself, you’ll see what I mean!
